A Major Insurance Company Needed 400 Notebook Computers for a short term project.
The brief was to find an alternative to the new stock they where being offered which had a cost of £745.00 per unit
This price made the project possible for cancellation and we where asked to suggest another way.
We supplied the company with a few options on used notebook computers ranging from 1 year old Dell units supplied directly from Dell Canada, down to used Compaq units which where 6 years old supplied from our own stock.
In the end, being as though their particular requirement did not call for the use of the fdd to much extent they decided to go with a 3 year old piece of equipment made by Toshiba which had an external fdd and CDROM. It was a Toshiba Portage 7020CT (PICTURED BELOW) PII 366Mhz 128Mb Ram 6.4Gb Hdd external CDROM and FDD and a 13.3" TFT screen.

The stock was refurbished for them to an "as new" condition, they where fully tested and covered by warranty to be fully functional and they where supplied with brand new batteries. They where supplied at a total cost £300.00 per unit.
After the project, which was scheduled for 4 months we also agreed to purchase the stock back from them for £100.00 per unit.
This gave them a total outlay of £80,000.00 as opposed to £298,000.00
A saving of £218,000.00 !!
